Feeding the ducks with the Goddess is like a religious experience. Sometimes just being with her is like that for me (tearing up as I write this). I wished for many years for a baby girl. Losing my mom so young really made me hunger for a mother-daughter relationship and I love spending time with her.

Today, on a beautiful fall morning, we went to feed the ducks in town while waiting for Handsome to come out of school, there were none.

She was throwing bread to nothing. The water was still, and empty. I asked her where she thought all the ducks were. She said, “I don’t know, maybe they are home with their mommies (cute).” Then she stood at the deck, put her hands around her mouth and yelled, “Ducks, ducks…where RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu?Wouldn’t you know it, they came. Tons of them just started flying across the water towards us. Crazy.

And the rain comes down
There’s no pain and there’s no doubt
It was easy to say
I believed in you everyday
If not for me
Then do it for the world – Stevie Nicks

Tuesday was the Goddess’ very first day at pre-school and she did fab!

Mom on the other hand was a bit of a mess.

I can’t say I was worried, just a little melancholy that my baby was going to leave me for 2.5 hours, two days a week.

Her dad and I were sure that she would have fun, we also were sure that she wouldn’t miss us, her brother is in the same place so they would have each other.

From the moment she woke up at 7:00 she was ready for school. She wanted to get dressed right away and we had to keep reminder her that school wasn’t open yet.

She asked about 15 times before 9:00 “can we please go to school now.”

Unfortunately it rained so I was unable to get any good pictures of her going in. I took some but I am not happy with any. My husband was with us and I always feel silly whipping out the camera every second.

Bad Mommy moment – I had promised her that she would be getting a balloon. We had brought one on Monday for her brother’s first day and she asked for one the whole day. I promised her that I would get her one on HER first day. Since it was her first day, I refused to leave town. Honestly, I doubt I will be leaving for the next 2 months).

I walked into the class and both my kids ran over to hug my legs and say hello. My son was first, followed by the Goddess. Her first words….”Hi mommy, where’s my balloon?”

We did go out to get one right after but how awesome would it have been if I had walked in with it???!!!

Here are the few I did manage to get.

Heading to school in the pouring rain.

Dropped off, took pictures and she sat right down to play

Finally, getting a balloon.

Aloha Friday from An Island Life this week asked:

Do you focus more on the past, present, or future? I focus on the present. One thing my husband has taught me is to focus on what you can change now. Many years ago, I spent most of my time worrying about the future, it isn’t necessary to waste time and energy on something that might or might not happen.

This week I wonder: Where is Biden? The news has makes me crazy. Sarah Palin isn’t running for the presidency yet she has more coverage than anyone else right now. I just want to know where Biden is? The presidential coverage has focused on Obama, Palin and McCain so where is Biden????

Come join the Friday Fun

1. You are in an adventurous mood. Do you go deep sea diving or sky diving?Any idea where you would like to do it? Well, if I had a moment to train I would probably go deep sea diving with my camera encased in a high tech water casing so that I could get some pictures of natures colors below the surface. I would go to Bali.

2. You just won an all expenses paid trip to anywhere in the world. Do you go to Japan or to France? Why? Ummm…I am not a traveler especially outside the united states. Mostly because I am petrified of flying. If I had to chose one I would chose France. No reason!

3. You meet a stingy genie that will only grant one wish. Do you wish for more money or a better body? Why? Oh more money, more money, more money. Especially these days!!! Money is extremely tight all over but we have struggled for 3 years now. Being self employed isn’t everything it’s cracked up to be.

4. You have $50 burning a hole in your pocket. Do you head to the book store or to a spa? What would you get? Oh hell, I would head to a book store. I don’t have the patience to sit for a spa treatment.

5. It is time for a caffeine jolt. Do you go for the coffee pot or for the soda? Any favorites? I don’t drink soda so Coffee is the way for me.

Love music? Play along at The Music Memoirs – Top 5 On Friday – Week 191

Top 5 albums in your music collection right now

Wow this is hard because picking favorites when it comes to music is very complicated, I guess my all time favorites are.

1-Pearl Jam – Ten
2-Bruce Springsteen – Darkness on the Edge of Town
3-Melissa Etheridge – Brave and Crazy
4- Metallica – The Black Album
5 – Stevie Nicks – The Enchanted Works of Stevie Nicks

The Friday Five can be found here

1. If you were to die today, what would your last words be? Please, remember me

2. What would you want your epitaph to say? She was an awesome mom, wife, friend, daughter, sister, grand-daughter. She saw the good in everyone and noticed the little things. We will miss her.

3. What song would you want played at your funeral? She’s The Spirit In Me by Mother Station. Or Angel by Stevie Nicks

4. In lieu of flowers, what should loved ones do in your honor? Oh hell no, I want flowers. I didn’t get many while alive so bring on the blooms!

5. What unfinished business would you wrap up? I would make sure that my kids, husband, family and friends knew how much I needed them in my life and what they have meant to me. I have no unfinished business.

Friday 5 for September 12: No Way! Way!

  1. Who lets you have your way more than you should? Not a single person!!! Wahhh..
  2. According to the cliche, the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, but what’s the way to yours? Spending time with my kids. The moment my husband gives the kids his attention for more than 10 minutes I am unbelievably in love all over again.
  3. What’s something that should have been put away but hasn’t been? Probably stuff that I want to post on Ebay. It takes up wayyyyy too much space in my bedroom and it will probably never get on there.
  4. When did you last weigh yourself? 3 weeks ago.
  5. What do the cops in the donut shop say? oh ay oh, ay ohhhhhh.

1. I enjoy just being with my husband and my kids.

2. What kind of adults my kids will be is something I wonder about often lately.

3. In your heart, you knew there is good in every one.

4. Take love, add a little one and you end up with a family.

5. Life has gifted me with friends, children and love.

6. Taking a shower with the door closed is an instant vacation.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to spending time with the hubby, tomorrow my plans include taking the kids to the park and Sunday, I want to fly a kite.

I’m going to start this post with a question and the obvious answer:

Can You Ever Have Too Many Hair Clips? Not, if they are Maiden America‘s

I was honored to received a package of the most beautiful hair clips this mom has ever seen.
Maiden American’s clips have already been featured on my site here and here.

(Here is my daughter opening up her amazing package of barrettes)

The company Maiden America (Even the name makes me want to buy), specializes in non-slip barrettes, for pin straight hair. The clips are all beautiful and my daughter was ecstatic when I told her to chose some clips.

My daughter has medium hair, however, it is pin straight and because she is active most clips hold but in an hour of her bopping around have worked through the hair to the bottom and finally lost.

(Our Collection so far the ribbon was from Maiden America also)

Since using Maiden America’s clips; we have not lost a single clip in 7 days. These clips don’t budge and also my daughter can’t take them out. This is a God send for this mom whose little one is always removing her clips and running around like a crazy girl. A friend of mine came over and my daughter showed her the clips. She is always talking about the things that she can make. She took the clip and right after she said, “I can make this” upon sight. She followed up with “these are really good clips! I have to get some for my dog.” Yes, these clips would work great for your pretty dogs too!

Not only are all of the clips beautiful they are also gentle on the hair. The piece that makes them non-slip keeps the hair away from the metal of the clip.

I wish I could wear them!!

(The first day she got them she just had to wear all of them-we love the ladybug ones).

If you are looking for a high end, home made, beautiful clip this is the place to go.

The brain child behind this amazing invention is a mom, homeschooler, blogger, and all around wonderful person.

Maiden America also sells adorable handbags, head bands, clutch bags.

See some hair ideas here.

(She wore them on her very first day of pre-school too)
